In India, the U.S. Ambassador, Eric Michael Garcetti, and his family visited the Wildlife SOS Elephant Conservation and Care Center in Agra and the Agra Bear Rescue Facility in Mathura. They learned about the organization's wildlife conservation efforts and interacted with rescued elephants and sloth bears, highlighting their commitment to the cause. Garcetti, a former mayor of Los Angeles, expressed support for the "Refuse to Ride" campaign, addressing the plight of Asian elephants in India.

During his visit to the Wildlife SOS Elephant Hospital, Garcetti observed the regular treatment of elephant Jinjer and laser therapy. He also witnessed training sessions with elephant Lakshmi at the Elephant Conservation and Care Center. Additionally, he explored health-related issues among captive elephants and observed the specialized veterinary team dedicated to treating injured and elderly elephants.

Garcetti and his family toured the Agra Bear Rescue Facility, gaining insights into the care and rehabilitation of sloth bears. They actively participated in tree planting, contributing to conservation efforts. Garcetti engaged in an interactive session with Wildlife SOS staff, including conservationists and veterinarians, to enhance his understanding of animal welfare and the challenges faced by Asian elephants.

The U.S. Ambassador commended Wildlife SOS, stating, "Wildlife SOS sets a real model where they not only think about animals and nature but also about humans. I am proud to partner with such a mission, and I am eager to return here as a volunteer with my daughter. Let's continue efforts for a world where all beings are respected and enjoy the freedom they deserve."

Kartick Satyanarayan, Co-founder and CEO of Wildlife SOS, expressed gratitude for Garcetti's support in their mission to protect Asian elephants and sloth bears. Conservation Projects Director, Baiju Raj M.V., emphasized Wildlife SOS's commitment to providing rescued animals a second chance at life through education and awareness.
