A New Initiative by the Commerce Department to Generate Revenue Through Non-Fare Revenue, Contract Awarded via E-Auction for Electric Vehicle Charging, Railway to Earn INR 30.80 Lakhs
Committed to providing better services to passengers, the Agra Railway Division is making continuous efforts, leading to increased railway revenue. Under the guidance of Agra Divisional Railway Manager Tej Prakash Agrawal and the direction of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Agra, Amit Anand, electric vehicle charging facilities will soon be launched for the first time in the North Central Railway's Agra Division at Agra Cantonment and Mathura Junction railway stations.
To reduce pollution and carbon emissions, the railway is making significant efforts. Through its 'Green Initiative,' the railway aims to promote clean air and environment. These charging points will operate 24x7 and 365 days a year, promoting e-mobility. People can charge their vehicles even at night. The railway is attempting to promote charging facilities under the non-fare revenue scheme. As part of a new initiative by the Commerce Department to generate revenue through non-fare revenue, a contract has been awarded via e-auction for electric vehicle charging.
The contract includes an electric vehicle (EV) charging station in the circulating area of Agra Cantt, earning the railway INR 3.75 lakhs per year (total contract value of INR 11,25,000 for 3 years). At Mathura Junction's circulating area (all 3 entrances), the EV charging station will earn the railway INR 6.51 lakhs per year (total contract value of INR 19,54,500 for 3 years). These two contracts will generate approximately INR 30.80 lakhs in revenue for the railway.
Charging stations are being set up at two railway stations in the Agra Division, namely Agra Cantonment and Mathura Junction, and the charging facilities will be operational soon. Under this facility, the public will be able to charge their battery vehicles at reasonable rates according to their needs. This will not only provide a convenient charging solution for battery vehicle owners but also help reduce environmental pollution. The installation of charging points will be most beneficial for those drivers who frequently visit the areas around Agra Cantonment and Mathura Junction railway stations.
